This program is designed for those healthcare professionals who wish to complement their education with both academic skills and field experience in international public health. Equipped in this way, recipients of the INMED International Public Health Diploma will be prepared to lead comprehensive health promotion efforts in low-resource communities.

  QUALIFICATIONS  

Enrollment is open to all healthcare professionals and healthcare profession students.

  LEARNING OBJECTIVES  

At the completion of the International Public Health Diploma, students in the context of a low-resource community will be able to:

  • Assess community health status based on the leading determinants of health
  • Prevent the leading diseases of poverty
  • Assure that health interventions are culturally appropriate
  • Design effective health interventions as part of a health leadership team
  • Successfully adapt one's lifestyle to a new cultural context
  INTERNATIONAL PUBLIC HEALTH DIPLOMA EDUCATIONAL COMPONENTS  

Recipients of the INMED International Public Health Diploma must:
  QUALIFICATIONS FOR EQUIVALENT INTERNATIONAL PUBLIC HEALTH TRAINING  

INMED endeavors to recognize excellent international public health training provided by other institutions. In application for equivalency, one must provide documentation that the experience was:
  • Promoting public health to a low-resource community in a developing nation
  • Continuously supervised by a mentor whose qualifications would be acceptable to an appropriate North American healthcare education institution
  • At least one month in continuous duration
  APPLICATION  

Healthcare professionals and healthcare profession students who meet all the above qualifications are invited to submit an application for the INMED International Public Health Diploma. The application should be submitted only after completion of all the above requirements. Please contact INMED with any questions in this regard.

  TIMETABLE  

The INMED International Public Health Intensive Course may be taken either before or after completing the INMED International Public Health Certificate requirements, but both must be completed within four years of one another.

  CERTIFICATION  

Students who successfully complete the above requirements will receive the INMED International Public Health Diploma. Verification of the educational experience will be provided to any graduate's affiliated school or residency program. Diplomas are presented at the annual INMED Exploring Medical Missions Conference.
